Pregnancy Yoga

In this class yoga is used as a way to prepare for birth. The movements, positions and breathing in the class will be movements and positions you can use during labour and birth and at the same time they will help to release tension in the body from the pregnancy. This class is open to pregnant women from the second trimester onward.

Restorative Yoga

This style of yoga is passive, introspective and oriented on breath awareness. In the postures the body is supported on bolsters and blankets and still for longer periods of time than in an active class. The purpose of this type of practice is to shift the nervous system out of ‘fight or flight’ into a deeply felt relaxation response.

Classes

Yoga

These classes are open to all levels of experience and include practicing postures lying down, sitting and standing, in movement and in stillness. Whilst moving, breathing or being still the intention is to observe, explore and discover and to notice the felt sense of the body, rather than to perform or perfect.

Yin Yoga

In yin yoga almost all postures are seated or lying down whilst relaxing the muscles. The postures are held passively for longer periods of time than in an active yoga class. While in the postures attention is focused on a comfortable breath or on sensations in the body. The intention of yin yoga is to release tension and create a sense of space within the body, but most importantly to feel better. I do not recommend practicing yin yoga to women during their pregnancy or the first six months after pregnancy.

Meditation

Meditation is the process of turning your attention inward with one-pointed focus usually whilst sitting still in silence. There are many meditative practices and techniques including where the focus is on the present moment.
